Van Life

When travelling with your house on your back, you discover infinite places to call "Home". Wherever you are, there's always lots of "daily living" needing to be taken care of. Cooking, cleaning, rest, practicing, planning...

Love of Harp

My journeys have taken me around the world. This is lovely spot on the Bay of Fundy near Parker Cove, NS.

Peggy's Cove - November 2021
Our final stop on the 2021 journey. After this , Misty and I flew back to Calgary for Christmas. My  18-year-old partner is now enjoying his retirement living with my sons, gazing lazily at the chickens running around their backyard!

Gannets, Gone

Fledged from rock, gannets,

months at sea to dip, dive, soar,

now wash up ashore

I fell in love with the gannets at Cape St. Mary's in Newfoundland in 2021. There were thousands of them filling 3 cliffsides and I was overwhelmed by their beauty and grace. In May 2022, I  saw the first one dead on shore as avian flu was starting among wild bird populations. By July, there were already dying by the thousands.

Skippers on the shore.
Siren waves murmur, “Remain.”
Torn, once more I go.

Penitent's Pilgrimage
Love carries hope that
Mercy transcends all, in the
Spirit of the Lord

From July 24th to July 29th, 2022, Pope Francis visited Canada on an extensive journey that he called a Penitential Pilgrimage. His deep sorrow as he asked forgiveness from all peoples hurt by members of the church was palpable. His warmth and thoughtful guidance for how to move forward in the grace of the spirit invited us to courageously consider how we can meet each other from a place of deep love and to listen deeply to each other without fear or agenda.

When our eyes met as he passed by me, it was as if a laser beam of love shot into the centre of my heart.

Still smiling

Penguins and people,

Aurora borealis,

and such sweet laughter

A beautiful day at Cap bon ami on the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec, meeting so many people, playing music, sharing stories. It ended with seeing the first aurora borealis of my life. What a breathtakingly beautiful display of creation!
